APC May Drop Ganduje, Shettima To Pave Way for Kwankwaso’s Return

Buba Galadima, a close acquaintance of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has claimed that there is more to the political realignment than first appears, sparking a new controversy when Abdullahi Ganduje abruptly resigned as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.
Galadima claimed in an interview with the Saturday Punch that although Kwankwaso had not formally told him of any plans to defect to the APC, he was aware of a high-level meeting that purportedly sealed Ganduje’s and maybe Vice President Kashim Shettima’s destiny.
“I don’t know about the defection plan,” Galadima remarked. I am aware, nevertheless, that Ganduje and Kwankwaso have private problems. I’m
well aware that the presidency and APC stakeholders met three days ago and decided that Ganduje and Shettima should be sacrificed in order to elect a new administration and party.
In light of recent party reorganizations, Shettima has so far kept a low profile, thus the accusation has further muddled the political landscape ahead of 2027.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) spokesperson, Ladipo Johnson, refused to provide a firm response when Saturday Punch contacted the party for comment.
Johnson stated, “I can’t talk further about it at this time, and I am not aware of such a move.”
Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s presidential contender for 2023, has not yet formally acknowledged or refuted the rumor of defection.
