Peter Obi Set to Join SDP – Adebayo Claims

Peter Obi will join the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2027 election, according to Adewole Adebayo, the party’s former presidential candidate.
Adebayo reportedly stated that the entrance of powerful opposition politicians into the SDP did not bother him.
The former presidential candidate disclosed in an interview with the Daily Independent that he was notified that the former Labour Party presidential contender would be joining the SDP.

He said that his party’s members are what will determine if he receives the ticket when asked if the flood of powerful opposition lawmakers will not hurt his chances.

Obtaining the ticket is contingent upon the SDP personnel. They are familiar with me. We’re welcome the people that are joining my party. You can see how involved I am in making them feel welcome. Changing the culture of their origins is the only minor problem we have with some of them. You must adjust to a setting with rules if you have never been in one where they are followed or taken seriously. Some of them are engaged in illegal activities, such as Boy Scouting. That’s what we’re dealing with. However, we invite them to join the celebration.

“We think the party will be strengthened by their arrival. The arrival of the individuals you mentioned, such as Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Nasir El-Rufai, does not bother me in the least. I was even informed that Governor Peter Obi would be attending. There will be a large crowd. They are welcome. He declared, “We don’t have a problem.”

He went on to say that Obi’s team had been in contact with his party regarding the former governor of Anambra State joining the SDP.

Adebayo went on to say that Obi and Atiku Abubakar would have to follow the party’s guidelines if they joined.

He emphasized that President Bola Tinubu would lose in 2027 if there was openness.

Peter Obi is rumored to be joining, but we won’t know until someone does. Everyone is welcome, and his people are conversing with us. When they arrive, they must abide by the regulations so that, like we did in our 2022 conference, one person can emerge openly, without dishonesty or illegal activity. We can provide Nigerians with a viable option if they embrace our culture and don’t fear using bribes or cheating to succeed. We will overthrow the APC, retire President Tinubu, and begin providing for Nigerians right away,” he continued.
