Atiku, Obasanjo, Shettima, Gowon, Others Gather to Honour Adamu Muazu

On Saturday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar joined a number of current and former Nigerian officials to commemorate the 70th birthday of Adamu Muazu, the former governor of Bauchi State and national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former military Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd), former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), were among the prominent dignitaries who attended the high-profile event in Bauchi.
Atiku characterized the commemoration as an opportunity to consider the part Muazu played in laying the groundwork for contemporary Nigerian governance in a message published on his official 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account.
“Today, along with numerous other notable Nigerian leaders, I paid my respects to Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Muazu alongside my boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, and Vice President Kashim Shettima,” Atiku said.
The former vice president, who worked under Obasanjo from 1999 to 2007, acknowledged Muazu’s important contributions to the PDP and administration.

“I worked with Muazu and other governors who served during that time to lay the foundation for good governance and a private sector-led economic growth for Nigeria as Vice President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007,” he continued.
At the ceremony, Muazu, who led Bauchi State from 1999 to 2007, received a lot of appreciation for his leadership style and developmental achievements. Muazu, who is referred to as the “game changer” in political circles, later held the position of PDP National Chairman, where he guided the party through pivotal election cycles.
The celebrant’s tenacity and commitment to nation-building were praised by Atiku.
He said, “I took this opportunity to congratulate Mu’azu and wish him many more years of good health and vitality.”
