Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has lamented that the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Muslim-Muslim ticket is having a negative impact on the nation.
Speaking in an interview with Arise News, Lawal stated that the ruling party’s ticket has opened a Pandora box.
He stated that Nigerians will find it difficult to oppose a Christian-Christian presidential ticket in the future.
“When a leader decides to do evil, society suffers,” Lawal stated, implying that the nation is currently suffering as a result of the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

He continued, “It has unlocked a Pandora box. Nigerians may struggle to oppose a Christian-Christian ticket now that a precedent has been established. But I was arguing about the precedent not only for religious reasons, but also for the sake of equity. There must be equity in what we do. If we don’t, we will face the same repercussions as we do now because we have not demonstrated equity and have discriminated against the weaker members of society. I feel that is one of the reasons we are being punished.
“When a leader chooses to do evil, the society suffers. And that is one of the reasons we are where we are today.
“I constantly remember that it’s not just the Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket; it’s also about our regional balances. People must feel a sense of belonging before they can devote their efforts to the development and unity of the country.”
