‘Backward Mentality’ – Dotun Condemns Bauchi State’s Ban on DJs

Nigerian disc jockey Oladotun Ojuolape, better known by his stage as Do2dtun, has denounced the administration of Bauchi State’s prohibition on DJs and event coordinators.
He was said to have voiced his unhappiness on his 𝕏 page, calling the decision unjust and detrimental to the creative sector.
Disk jockeys and event planners throughout the state are subject to restrictions under the law, which was implemented in Bauchi State.
The action, according to the government, was required to reestablish the moral and spiritual foundation of marriage and reduce the high divorce rate.
The prohibition covers the use of DJs, gala nights, kawayawade, aloba, and other forms of entertainment that are seen to encourage unethical behavior.

DJ Dotun responded to the news by calling the policy ill-considered and detrimental to a large number of Nigerians who depend on entertainment for a living.
Such rules, he contended, demonstrate a lack of knowledge regarding the contribution of the creative sector to job development and youth empowerment.
“If you are the one who created the legislation that forbids DJs and event coordinators in a state, you are absolutely worthless.” How utterly ignorant people may be when they are unemployed and without hope. What are the consequences of this law? On Monday afternoon, he wrote, “There are some people in Nigeria who are really backward.”
