Bashir Ahmad Warns: APC Can’t Ignore Shettima on Joint Ticket with Tinubu

Some All Progressives Congress (APC) officials have come under fire from former presidential adviser Bashir Ahmad for neglecting Vice President Kashim Shettima during a gathering intended to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

After prominent party leaders, including as APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and North-East zonal leader Mustapha Salihu, neglected to bring up Mr. Shettima in their addresses, the Sunday endorsement meeting in the North-East descended into chaos.

The absence infuriated the event’s delegates and party members, who protested by disrupting the meeting.

Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Vice Chairman (North-East), had to go forward and acknowledge the vice president before he could defuse the situation.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s adviser Bashir Ahmad responded to the episode on X on Sunday by cautioning that the party’s unity may be harmed if the vice president is ignored in such discussions.

He stated, “Those who conveniently ignore Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu’s deputy, while purposefully bringing up his name in relation to 2027 are not serving our great party, the APC.”

What is said and what is not said in politics can be perceived in a variety of ways. We know it’s a joint ticket between BAT and KSM,” he wrote.
