Bayelsa Governor Pledges Increased Support During University of Africa Ceremony

The University of Africa, Toru-Orua celebrated its 2020–2024 graduates with a historic combined convocation event. Academic leaders, government representatives, royal dignitaries, and proud families attended the occasion, which served as the institution’s reaffirmation of its dedication to excellence in research, education, and service.
Speaking at the event, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri praised the graduates’ perseverance and their decision to attend a relatively new university. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to the university’s expansion while pointing out the necessity of creative funding sources outside of state grants.
Governor Diri declared, “The University of Africa has the potential to forge new avenues for innovation and find alternate, sustainable funding sources beyond what the Bayelsa State Government can provide.”
The top graduating student in each program will automatically be hired as a thank you for your accomplishments. It says a lot that you choose to put your trust in a young organization rather than a well-established one. You are representatives of this aspirational university today, and I’m determined to make it a center for excellence, growth, and knowledge.

Representing the graduating class, a first-class graduate conveyed happiness and appreciation. The student emphasized the group’s delight in achieving this milestone and the bravery required to select the university.
“Believing in the future of this university and ourselves, we took a risky move.” Together, we are celebrating this win with great satisfaction today. The student stated that the university is working to establish a reputation outside of Bayelsa as well.
The recently appointed Chancellor, His Eminence Ez Wanuku Namobi III, King of Aubberland, formally inducted 95 graduating students into the university’s alumni community during the convocation. In his capacity as chancellor, he awarded certificates and tasked the graduates with upholding the school’s principles as they move forward in their lives.
The event reaffirmed the University of Africa’s commitment to enhancing its heritage and its stakeholders’ common goal of a knowledge-, innovation-, and service-driven future.
