Boat Tragedy in Kwara Claims 37 Lives

Thirty-seven people were killed Thursday in a boat accident in the Gbajibo-Mudi community of Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State.

Although there were several survivors, reliable reports claim that the boat was overcrowded with over 100 passengers.

Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar, the community’s emir, and Abubakar Abdullahi, the chairman of Kaiama Local Government, are presently on the ground supervising rescue efforts.

Prior to the sad event, which happened at around 6:00 p.m., the boat was apparently traveling to one of the settlements in Niger State.
