BREAKING: Court Halts Pro-Wike Rally in Bayelsa

A planned gathering by supporters of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike was halted by a High Court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The rally cannot proceed until a complete hearing is held, according to the court order, which was given on Thursday.
The event was scheduled to take place in the state capital of Yenagoa on April 12, 2025.
Following the announcement of the event by Wike’s supporters, tensions between Wike and Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri have been on the rise.

Last week, Governor Diri expressed worries about the safety of the state and cautioned that the demonstration might cause unrest. He called on young people, community leaders, and security personnel to remain vigilant and contribute to maintaining the state’s composure.
