Breaking: Court Orders EFCC to Release Aisha Achimugu

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been ordered by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja to free Aisha Achimugu, a socialite and entrepreneur who has been imprisoned, within twenty-four hours.
In addition to issuing the direction on Wednesday, the judge mandated that all parties return to court on May 2, 2025, to provide an update on the order’s progress.
The EFCC is currently investigating Achimugu for alleged offenses that include ownership of property suspected of having been obtained illegally, money laundering, corruption, obtaining money through false pretenses, and criminal conspiracy.

The commission had previously granted her administrative bail, but the EFCC claimed she had broken the terms of her bail, leading to her being proclaimed wanted.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Justice Ekwo ordered Achimugu to surrender to the EFCC on Monday. He also mandated that the agency bring her before the court on Wednesday, April 30, to give an update.
The court has now ordered her immediate release within a 24-hour limit after she appeared and the EFCC detained her.
