BREAKING: FG Cancels Parade for June 12 Democracy Day Due to Undisclosed Reasons

The military parade planned for Thursday, June 12, 2025, to mark the 26th Democracy Day has been canceled by the Federal Government.
According to information made public by the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the celebration of Democracy Day, President Bola Tinubu will speak nationally on Thursday at 7 a.m., skipping the customary Democracy Day procession that has been held in the past.
The National Assembly will hold a special joint session at noon, in which President Tinubu will take part.

It is anticipated that this joint session will cover topics such as the State of the Nation, reflections on Nigeria’s democratic journey, and fresh calls for reform and national unity.

The State House Conference Centre in Abuja is scheduled to host a public lecture later that day at 4 p.m.
According to reports, this event will bring together political figures, government representatives, and members of civil society to reflect on Nigeria’s democratic journey under the theme “Consolidating on the Gains of Nigeria’s Democracy: Necessity of Enduring Reforms.”

The statement encouraged everyone to watch the broadcast and participate in the national conversation about bolstering democratic reforms and institutions.
