Lakurawa Terrorists Strike Kebbi Community Again

Following an attack by alleged Lakurawa terrorists in the Gulma hamlet, which is part of the Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, one person was confirmed dead and six others were taken to the hospital.
Newsmen were informed on Friday by Aliyu Sani Gulma, the Chairman of Argungu Local Government, that the attack happened at approximately 11:00 PM on Thursday while the villagers were asleep.
According to reports, six people were shot and one person was killed during the assault.

He said that the injured people are being treated at the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi at the moment.

Gulma added that when the attackers realized that some people of the community had banded together to face them, they retreated into the forest.

He affirmed that military forces have been sent to the region to protect the safety of the locals and their belongings, and that he has reported the occurrence to the appropriate security authorities.

CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the Kebbi Police Command’s public relations officer, told Daily Trust that the command had already sent out mobile police officers to the area when called.

It was understood that the most recent attack occurred just two months after Adamu Aliero, the senator for Kebbi Central, claimed that the Nigerian military had expelled terrorist organizations to the Niger Republic.

According to Aliero, the Chief of Defence Staff, Abubakar Badaru, the Minister of Defence, and other important players intervened to bring about the event.

“We told the minister unequivocally that if we play with the Lakurawa terrorists, what happened to the North East may happen to the North West,” Aliero had stated. It is a conflict that can be over in five days, and it would be disastrous if we permitted the North East to recur in the North West. We need to protect the North West because it is more populated, has more agricultural land, is better for raising animals, has rivers for effective irrigation, is an excellent place to fish, and more.

Do you know that until our troops showed up on Tuesday, November 12, and chased them as they fled into the Niger Republic, they dared to remain and continued to threaten the villagers? Our troops are not allowed to cross our international border. However, the remainder must now be handled by our current military partnership with the Nigerien military to put an end to insurgency and banditry.
