Lawmakers Struggle to Calm Natasha Akpoti as Akpabio Forces Her Out of Senate

A video that surfaced online captures the moment that Senate President Godswill Akpabio ordered Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the representative of the Kogi Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, to be expelled from the Senate for interfering with the plenary session by altering her seating arrangement without permission.
According to reports, the plenary was in process when Senator Mohammed Ali Monguno, the Chief Whip, brought up a point of order against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s “improper seating position.”
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan burst into a boisterous altercation before Monguno could complete his statement, forcing the Sergeant-at-Arms to step in and try to remove her out of the room.
During the chaos, the female senator resisted the Senate President’s attempts to bring order back by demanding an explanation for why her seat had been changed without her consent.
Natasha resisted the MPs’ attempts to appease her while defending her actions, according to the video that surfaced online.
In other matters, Akpabio has argued that if it is proven that USAID is funding Boko Haram as claimed, the company will no longer be permitted to work in Nigeria.
Speaking in plenary on Wednesday, Akpabio made the statement in response to the claim that USAID is funding Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in Nigeria.
He underlined the significance of looking into the claim and acting appropriately in light of confirmed findings.

“We have no business permitting Boko Haram to operate offices in Nigeria if it is confirmed that USAID has been providing financial support to the group there. Therefore, we must inevitably investigate the matter further before we can take firm action and request compensation,” the Senate President stated.
