NNPCL Appoints Ojulari as New GCEO, Bids Farewell to Kyari

Together with the newly reorganized Board of Directors, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has formally welcomed Bayo Ojulari as its new Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO).
Early on Wednesday morning, President Bola Tinubu reportedly announced Ojulari’s appointment to replace Mele Kyari and reorganize the company’s leadership.
This action, which takes effect on April 2, 2025, is a component of a larger plan to enhance NNPCL’s operational performance and increase investor trust in the business.

Tinubu used his power under Section 59(2) of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 to carry out the leadership transfer, according to a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
The goal of the decision is to increase NNPCL’s efficiency and commercial viability.

Olufemi Soneye, the spokesperson for NNPCL, thanked Kyari and the departing board members for their commitment to the organization in a separate statement released on Wednesday.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the departing GCEO, Mr. Mele Kyari, and the previous Board Members for their unselfish and committed contribution to the firm and the country.

“NNPC Ltd. has been forever changed by Mr. Kyari’s leadership and unwavering work, and we truly appreciate his exceptional contributions.

The statement said, “We wish him and all departing Board Members continued success and fulfillment in their future endeavors.”
