The demonstrators, dressed in black, reportedly carried signs that read, “Together we stand for Governor Sim Fubara,” “We want back our governor; we all voted for him,” and “Governor Fubara is the pride of Rivers People,” according to reports.
President Bola Tinubu proclaimed a state of emergency in Rivers State on March 18 and suspended Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and members of the state’s House of Assembly. This is the most recent in a string of anti- and pro-protests that have shaken the state.
