Breaking: Tinubu Hosts Rivers State Administrator Ibokette Ibas at Presidential Villa

Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas, the recently appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State, is currently meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, which started at 12:50 p.m., came just hours after Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State due to a political dispute between former Governor Nyesom Wike and the state’s governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
President Tinubu announced Ibas as the administrator to manage Rivers State’s affairs in his nationwide speech on Tuesday, after Governor Siminalayi Fubara was suspended for a six-month first term.

As part of the constitutional steps taken to address the political unrest in the state, Fubara was suspended together with Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu and every member of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
“I hereby nominate Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as Administrator to take charge of the affairs of the state in the interest of the good people of Rivers State,” Tinubu said in his announcement. To be clear, this proclamation has no bearing on Rivers State’s judiciary, which will continue to operate in line with its constitutional duty.

“No new laws will be made by the Administrator. However, he will have the freedom to create any regulations that he deems essential to carry out his duties; however, these must be reviewed and approved by the Federal Executive Council before being issued by the state president.
