BREAKING: Tinubu Signs Bill to Create Federal University of Environment, Technology in Ogoni

The bill creating the Federal University of Environment and Technology, Ogoni, has been signed into law by President Bola Tinubu.
This was announced in a brief statement released by the presidency on Monday on its X platform social media account.
The development was characterized in the announcement as President Tinubu’s promise being fulfilled.
The State House announcement said, “The Federal University of Environment and Technology (TAI) Establishment Bill 2024: Promise Kept. Assented into Law by President Bol.”
President Tinubu recently urged the people of Ogoniland to put their past differences aside and give peace a shot.

At a meeting with a group of Ogoni people, leaders, and high-ranking government officials at the Aso Rock Villa, President Tinubu made the call and pledged that his administration will give peace, justice, and sustainable development in the region first priority.
Tinubu fervently called for unity and reconciliation during the meeting, which was also attended by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and others. He emphasized that wounds cannot be healed while resentment is still there.
Invoking comprehensive engagement and mutual understanding, President Tinubu instructed Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, to oversee the negotiations.
The President praised the group for accepting the Federal Government-led dialogue and emphasized the necessity of cooperation, trust, and inclusivity to address persistent problems in the area, according to a statement released by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
