Charly Boy Mocks ADC Coalition: “Old Wolves in New Agbada”

Popular singer and activist Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, often known as Charly Boy, has dismissed opposition leaders’ plans to build a coalition to unseat President Tinubu in 2027.

It was alleged that a combination of political heavyweights from the Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party, Social Democratic Party, and dissatisfied members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has formed ahead of the 2027 election.

The opposition leaders, led by former Senate President David Mark, had chosen the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their formal platform for taking power from Tinubu in 2027.

While the announcement sparked joy across the country as opposition regrouped, several Nigerians remain dubious of the opposition figures’ aim.

Omoyele Sowore, a renowned Nigerian activist, issued a statement on Wednesday distancing himself from the movement, characterizing opposition individuals as corrupt.

Similarly, in a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday night, Charly Boy said members of the coalition are the same “people that sank this country are suddenly singing redemption songs”.

According to the entertainer, the objective is not about Nigeria, but about their selfish thirst for power, emphasizing that “it’s just old wolves in the new agbada”.

“Coalitions are developing, but let us not pretend that every partnership is advancing.
Sometimes there are only ancient wolves in fresh agbada.

“Are they fighting for you or battling to sit where your foes once sat?

“Are they yelling “enough is enough” because they’ve changed? Or because they are no longer the beneficiaries?

“We don’t simply need new names. We need new ideals, visions, and individuals who are willing to live by them. 2027 isn’t about vengeance. He wrote, “It’s about rescue.”
