EFCC Lifts Arrest Warrant Against Mercy Chinwo’s Manager, Mr. Eezee

As the manager of well-known Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu (Thankgod) has had the arrest order for him formally revoked by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Recall that the EFCC filed an ex parte application last week, and Justice Alexander Owoeye granted a bench warrant for the music producer.
However, on Friday, the commission requested the revocation of the order in a plea made by its lawyer, Bilikisu Buhari.
The Federal High Court in Lagos had previously issued an arrest order for ThankGod, as you may remember.
After the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed a request, Justice Alexander Owoeye issued the order on Thursday.
EFCC attorney Bilikisu Buhari filed the application during the court hearing in accordance with Section 35(1)(c) of the 1999 Constitution and Sections 35 to 39 of the 2015 Administration of Criminal Justice Act.
She maintained that in order to force Onyedikachukwu to appear in court on allegations of alleged financial impropriety, an arrest warrant was required.

A public summons to declare the manager wanted would be issued if he was not apprehended, Buhari also warned the court.
Onyedikachukwu’s arraignment was scheduled for January 24 after Justice Owoeye granted approval of the application.
The matter was understood to have started with a petition that Mercy Chinwo submitted to the EFCC.
In an affidavit submitted by EFCC investigator Michael Idoko, the gospel singer accused her manager of failing to disclose royalties from her events and digital platforms.
Onyedikachukwu allegedly siphoned $345,000 for Chinwo, which prompted her to pursue legal action.
