No Party Can Defeat APC Alone in 2027, PDP Should Partner with Obi – Olafeso

Eddy Olafeso, who is a member of the PDP’s reconciliation committee, has emphasized the significance of interacting with Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and other opposition leaders in order to build a coalition that will defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
Obi, who first ran for the PDP nomination, switched to the Labour Party before the 2022 primaries, where he received 6,101,533 votes, placing third behind PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar (6,984,520) and winner Tinubu (8,794,726 votes).
In a Wednesday interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today show, Olafeso was asked if the struggling PDP should get in touch with Obi in order to improve their chances of defeating the APC in 2027.
In his response, he said it is crucial to interact with Peter Obi as well as any other powerful people in the nation who might be able to cast votes.
The PDP leader reaffirmed the need for a strong coalition to take on the APC in 2027, emphasizing the formidable obstacles that a single political party would encounter in its attempt to overthrow the ruling party.
“Alignments are not the only thing you have here; people are cooperating to win an election.
“Don’t fool yourself; no one party can defeat the APC by itself. It happened in Ghana not too long ago, and that is precisely what we should all do right now. We have to unite to fight,” Olafeso continued.

Prior to the 2023 election, he blamed the PDP leadership for the party’s disintegration, which contributed to its electoral failure.
Olafeso bemoaned the PDP leadership’s inability to bring the party together prior to the 2023 election, pointing out that Tinubu would have finished far after Obi and Atiku pooled their votes.
According to reports, Atiku and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike have not yet reconciled after their disagreement following the party’s 2022 primary, indicating that the PDP’s internal strife continues.
Olafeso was hopeful that the party would overcome this obstacle and bring everyone back together, but he insisted that the gap between the two leaders could be healed.
