Enzo Maresca Explains Why Chelsea Should Give Liverpool a Guard of Honour on Sunday

Chelsea will honor the defending champions, Liverpool, with a guard of honor during their forthcoming game on Sunday, according to manager Enzo Maresca.
For a considerable amount of the current season, Chelsea was Liverpool’s most serious rival for the Premier League championship.
However, Maresca’s campaign was derailed and their prospects of winning the top spot were ultimately hampered by a string of dismal outcomes, including defeats to Fulham and Ipswich during the hectic Christmas season.
Regarding the guard of honor, Maresca went into further detail about the significance of this custom, saying he wanted his players to internalize its meaning in addition to understanding its relevance.
He encouraged his team to consider the dream, stating, “One day, I would like to be there,” hinting at a long-term objective of contending for the championship again.

Chelsea is still aiming for Champions League qualifying as they are ready to play Arne Slot’s Liverpool team.
Even if they are now below the Merseysiders in points, Maresca is still confident in his team’s future.
“The difference between us and Liverpool is obvious, but I think we’re getting closer,” he said. I hope this gap can keep getting smaller.
In reference to the guard of honor, Maresca highlighted its importance, saying, “It’s a tradition we must uphold.” Since they won the Premier League, they are deserving of this praise.
On Sunday, May 4, at 4:30 p.m., Chelsea and Liverpool will begin their Premier League match.
