DStv, GOtv Subscription Prices to Rise Despite Economic Hardship (See Expected Rates)

According to industry sources, MultiChoice plans to raise the monthly membership fees for its DStv and GOtv packages. The well-liked Compact bouquet will now cost ₦19,000 instead of ₦15,700.
This change follows the ongoing depreciation of the naira, rising inflation, and growing energy prices, and it occurs over a year after the company’s last price review.
Price Changes for All Bouquets

The changes will impact DStv Compact, Access, and Family bouquet subscribers, who account for a sizable share of MultiChoice’s customer base.

Compact DStv: ₦15,700 → £19,000

From ₦9,300 to ₦11,000 for the DStv Family

Access to DStv: ₦5,100 to ₦6,000

Increases are also planned for DStv Premium and Compact+ (specific numbers are not yet known).

Changes will also be made to GOtv customers’ Value and Plus packages:

Value of GOtv: ₦3,600 -> ₦3,900

Watch TV Plus: ₦4,850 → 5,800

Price increases are being forced by economic realities.
According to an industry insider who talked to TheCable, the pricing changes were caused by the Federal Government’s ongoing economic reforms, which include raising electricity tariffs, removing fuel subsidies, and floating the Naira.

As the Federal Government started its economic reforms in 2023, the cost of goods and services has nearly quadrupled. Businesses have been obliged to change their rates, sometimes up to three times in the past year, due to the current inflation rate of 34.80% (as of December 2024), according to an industry insider.
