Flying Eagles Resume Camp Ahead of CAF WAFU B U-20 Boys’ Tournament

According to Aliyu Zubairu, head coach of the Nigerian Flying Eagles, the Under-20 men’s squad has returned to their campsite in Abuja for the CAF WAFU B U-20 Boys’ Cup.
The CAF WAFU B U-20 Boys’ Cup will begin on July 10 and run through July 23, 2025, in Accra, Ghana. Its purpose is to nurture young football players in West Africa and to encourage regional cooperation. There will be 13 nations from WAFU Zones A and B competing.
The competition was rescheduled for July after originally being planned for earlier in the year. In Abuja, the Flying Eagles had already begun to camp for it prior to the postponement. As the group awaited the notification of a new date, however, the camping was interrupted.

In addition to some new players, it was reported that coach Zubairu invited primarily the players who helped the Flying Eagles earn a spot in the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile.
Starting in Group A, the Flying Eagles will compete in the WAFU B U-20 Boys’ Cup alongside Ghana, the host nation, and the Benin Republic. Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Togo, and Niger make up Group B.

During this competition, Coach Zubairu will have the chance to get the team ready for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, which will begin on September 27 and run through October 19, 2025.

Nigeria, together with Saudi Arabia, Norway, and Colombia, are in Group F of the worldwide competition.
