‘Rivers’ Economic Soul Under Siege’ – Dokubo Condemns Fubara’s Removal

Hilda Dokubo, a Nollywood actress and Labour Party member, has denounced President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of a State of Emergency in Rivers State.

Dokubo also called the president’s decision to suspend Siminalayi Fubara, the state governor, and all state lawmakers unjust and an assault on the state’s citizens.
She claimed that the deployment of military personnel and their vans around Rivers State had severely hindered state functions.

“I will say it over and over again, what is happening in Rivers State is not Siminalayi Fubara, it is a combat for the economic soul of Rivers State,” Dokubo, who led some women in protest of the recent events in the state, said in a video released by News Central.
“Someone wants to seize Rivers State’s economic heart. Our money was flying all over our heads because they continued to take advantage of us for twenty-four years. “With all sorts of stupidity, it is here today and it will be there tomorrow,” she remarked.

She said that since Fubara took office, Rivers State has enjoyed the benefits of good government and has been peaceful with its citizens, particularly its civil personnel.

According to her, “Civil servants have been paid every Christmas for the past two years, but this is the first time they have been paid on the thirteenth month.”

For the first time, civil servants have received their full salary, and the roads that connect the riverine settlements have never been paid. We now know that our terrain is not as severe as they claimed it was.

“Fubara told us that we could hold an election here in any manner, but it had to be free of violence, bloodshed, and gunfire, and it did.

“You told everyone to leave today, and he said yes,” Dokubo remarked.

Dokubo went on to say that although Fubara has complied with all of the Supreme Court’s recent directives, the state is still experiencing problems due to the efforts of unseen forces.

She also accused House of Assembly members of undermining Rivers State residents’ interests in order to further their own agendas.
