Governor Fubara, Suspended Speaker Amaewhule Meet for Peace Talks in Abuja

Abuja, June 26, 2025 — In a key step toward settling Rivers State’s political crisis, suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara met with suspended Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, in Abuja on Thursday.
According to sources familiar with the subject, the meeting, held behind closed doors in Nigeria’s capital, was cordial and marked the first reconciliatory encounter between the two leaders since President Bola Tinubu suspended them.
Other members of the State Assembly were also present, and both parties allegedly exchanged pleasantries, swapped jokes, and expressed a willingness to engage in productive dialogue.
