Gunmen Attack Enugu Checkpoint, Kill Two Police Officers and Burn Patrol Vehicles

Another vicious attack has occurred in Enugu State, where two police officers were killed in a violent assault on a police checkpoint by unidentified gunmen suspected of being armed robbers.
Agbogugu, a town in the Awgu Local Government Area that is located along the Enugu-Ozalla-Port Harcourt Old Road, was the scene of the tragedy on Thursday night. A patrol van and a Sienna car used by the police at the checkpoint were set on fire by the terrorists during the attack.
Local sources told SaharaReporters on Friday that the armed guys carried out the attack quickly, disarming the officers and burning the cars before escaping.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers encountered little to no opposition and departed Agbogugu town without encountering any opposition.

Two police officers were killed last evening when gunmen posing as armed robbers stormed a police checkpoint in Agbogugu along the Enugu-Ozalla-Port Harcourt Old Road. Additionally, they set fire to a police patrol truck and a Sienna, according to an eyewitness.
The Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) and another officer known locally as “Big” were the two victims of the attack.
Enugu police also arrived and removed the burning cars. I found out that the attackers took the firearms from the officers who were killed,” the witness continued.
The number of deadly assaults against law enforcement in the Enugu North Senatorial District in recent months has increased with this most recent tragedy.
