I Don’t Intend to Leave Any Property for My Children – Veteran Actor Oga Bello

Veteran Nollywood filmmaker and actor Adebayo Salami, well known by his stage name Oga Bello, has promised not to leave his kids any homes or properties.
This was revealed by the actor in a recent Nigerian Tribune interview.
Bello claims that the most priceless legacy he has left for his children is education.

The actor, a proud father of 18 children and husband to two wives, claimed that he made the deliberate choice early in life to allocate his resources to providing his kids with a good education rather than amassing wealth for them.

He claims, “I don’t want to leave my kids any properties.” All I need is a house in Lagos and another in my hometown. Please share if you find any money in my account. I’m really enthusiastic about education.
The actor, whose career started in 1964 with the late Baba Mero’s Young Concert Party, stated that his lack of parental support throughout his own schooling has influenced his parenting philosophy.

He continued, “I wanted all of my children to have an education, even if it was only a first degree.”

Speaking further, Oga Bello emphasized that he never coerced any of his kids into performing, saying that they did so out of passion and that he just provided support as long as they performed well academically.

They weren’t brought or coerced into the industry by me. If they wanted to follow me to rehearsals, I would say no, unless they were doing well in school. They had to work hard because of that,” he said.

Oga Bello also offered insightful thoughts about retirement and aging, as well as the lack of cultural readiness for old age.

“Aging presents difficulties. It’s personal to prepare for old age. It is not taken seriously by any profession here in Nigeria. I made investments in my kids. They will look after me in old age,” he claimed.
