IBBUL Attacks: Late Abdulwahab’s Father Mourns, Says Son’s Future Was Cut Short

The father of Abdulwahab Abubakar, a Chemistry Education student enrolled in the 300-level program at Ibrahim Babangida University in Lapai, Niger State, has expressed his profound sorrow, saying that his son’s promising future was cut short.
He criticized the university’s state of insecurity and called on the Niger State government to act quickly to protect students.
Remember that Sunday night at around 2:30 am, Abdulwahab was brutally murdered in a robbery attack at his lodge, leaving his family in shock and sorrow.
Abdulwahab’s father, Abubakar, spoke movingly about the death of his first son from his third wife, who had a bright future, at Paiko in Paikoro local government, where he lives. He called it a devastating blow to the family.
“On Sunday, at 3:30 am, I received a call and hurried to Lapai by myself, feeling sad. An hour later, I arrived at the hospital where he was taken. I ruthlessly murdered my son after finding his motionless body on the bed. I sobbed, Kai. His life was simply cut short before it even began.
Not only has Abdulwahab’s passing crushed his family, he said, but it has also caused anxiety among parents whose children are enrolled in college.
He urged the Niger State government to give students enough protection so that similar tragedies won’t happen again at IBBUL or any other state university.

Parents cannot be asked to send their children to school if security cannot be provided.
He bemoaned, “We work hard and struggle to send our children to school, and to hear they’re being killed is discouraging.”
“This is the fifth recorded case of student killings at IBBUL, which raises serious concerns about the safety of students on campus,” he said.
My family has experienced severe heartbreak. I do, however, accept what transpired as Allah’s will because He permitted it. Nobody can do anything when the moment comes. As I have stated, the government should take firm action to improve security and guarantee school safety in order to halt this trend.
Rabi Abubakar, Abdulwahab’s mother of 45, was asked if we could speak with her. Abubakar merely said that she was in too much shock and was not in a good place to talk about her loss.
Despite their decision to leave everything to God, Abdulwahab’s cousin Faiza Abdulkadir and his step-sister Zinatu Abubakar expressed their sorrow over their brother’s ruthless murder, saying it had rocked the entire family.
At around 9:30 on Monday, Abdulwahab was laid to rest at Paiko.
