Ignore Politicians Who Failed in 2023 Promises, Ajadi Urges Nigerians

Nigerians have been advised by Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a South-West chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), to reject any political party or candidate who has not kept their election pledges from the 2023 campaign.
Ajadi called on voters to evaluate parties and their candidates severely in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, based on their performance during the previous two years, in a statement released on Sunday.
While politicians made lofty promises during the 2023 campaigns, he bemoaned the fact that many Nigerians’ everyday lives now reflect increasing hardship and unmet expectations, particularly from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“In the past two years, political parties and politicians have made life worse for Nigerians, despite their promises of a better life,” Ajadi stated. “The centrally located ruling APC boosted Nigerians’ hopes with its Renewed Hope Agenda, but the economy’s collapse has left people living in despair.”
He claims that a large number of Nigerians are currently living like beggars and having daily struggles due to financial difficulty.
Despite official guarantees, millions of people still live in darkness, he said, citing the promise of reliable energy across the country as one of the unmet promises.

Ajadi also criticized the policy of eliminating fuel subsidies, claiming that it was put into place without sufficient palliatives, rendering petroleum goods costly for the typical Nigerian.
“A typical Nigerian cannot afford the prices of petroleum products due to the removal of subsidies without the provision of alternative palliatives and relief materials,” he said. “This has further devalued the naira and worsened inflation through multiplier effects.”
In comparison to the CFA franc, which is used in neighboring West African countries, he called the current situation of the naira disgusting and urged the government to act quickly to stabilize the national currency and boost the economy.
Ajadi called on Nigerians to hold political parties responsible in the 2027 elections so they can take control of their own fate.
As the general election of 2027 approaches, Ambassador Ajadi said, “I implore the electorate to examine the political parties’ and politicians’ performances, assessing the extent to which they have delivered on their commitments, prior to casting their votes.”
