JUST IN: Nationwide Fuel Scarcity Looms as IPMAN Gives FG 7-Day Ultimatum to FG

Due to the government’s inability to pay overdue bridging claims of N100 billion, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has threatened to discontinue its services, resulting in an imminent statewide fuel scarcity in Nigeria.

Yahaya Alhasan, the chairman of the IPMAN Depot Chairmen Forum, spoke at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, February 24, 2025, and expressed frustration over the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority’s (NMDPRA) failure to pay, despite assurances made forty days prior in front of National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu.
According to Alhasan, the protracted debt situation has resulted in the entire grounding of a number of northern depots, including those in Jos, Gusau, Minna, Suleja, Kaduna, Kano, Gombe, Yola, and Maiduguri.

“We will stop providing our services nationwide if NMDPRA does not pay us within seven days,” Alhasan threatened.
The NMDPRA’s 5% fee on petroleum marketers was also denounced by IPMAN as unconstitutional and harmful to company operations.

The group urged President Bola Tinubu to step in right away, threatening to interrupt the country’s petroleum supply if their demands are not met by February 24, 2025.
