A year after her husband’s premature death, Jennifer Awele, the late Nollywood actor Junior Pope’s wife, has spoken out.
Recall that on April 8, 2024, Junior Pope and other crew members perished after drowning in the Anam River in Anambra State on their way back from a filming location.
In a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday, April 10, 2025, Jennifer stated her husband’s disappearance left a vacuum that words can never cover, even though she described the occurrence as an inconceivable loss.
She claims that their kids continue to inquire about their father, but she is at a loss for words.
Jennifer expressed gratitude to everyone who offered support and empathy during their time of sorrow.
“We have been standing in the face of our unfathomable loss for a year, and every day has been filled with thoughts of you,” she stated. Even in the quiet times when we miss you the most, your presence is felt, your laughter reverberates in our hearts, and your love still envelops us.
You have no clue how difficult it has been to support one another when everything around us seems to be crumbling. Even though the absence created a vacuum that words will never cover and the sadness is still overwhelming, we look to heaven for strength and direction. We have learned to endure each day as it comes, one step at a time, enduring excruciating pain that never goes away, thanks to you, death.
When Jason and Jaden ask whether Daddy will keep his promise to enroll them in a reputable football program and attend their first official game, I’m still at a loss for words. “Daddy told them he wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world,” they remarked. Then Jamon, the youngest (J papa, as his father affectionately calls him), constantly asking when his father will send the large toy automobile he promised him.

“We are grateful to everyone who offered us support throughout our difficult period and continues to do so. Our sincere appreciation for your love and support is beyond words.
“To our beloved, you left behind not just your family and us, but also a great number of people who cherished you and your creations. Even if it is so hard and unreal to say these things, keep on resting in the arms of God. Your legacy and memories will endure forever, and you will never be far from our minds or hearts.
“Even though you are no longer with us, you endure in every memory, every tear, and every smile. Until we cross paths again, you will always be with us. God cannot be questioned, can he? My love, may your soul rest in eternal peace.
