June 12: ‘You Didn’t Fight for Democracy’ — Bwala Blasts Peter Obi

Daniel Bwala, the president’s spokesperson, has criticized Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, for his recent comments about the Bola Tinubu government.
Bwala, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, suggested that Obi should hold off on making any remarks on June 12, 1993, because he feels the former governor of Anambra State was never involved in the fight for democracy.
He said that Obi had no prior history of participation in the conflict because he was trading overseas at the time.

Obi asked Tinubu to emulate former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Umaru Yar’Adua during the celebration of Democracy Day.

Obi suggested that the president follow former President Yar’Adua’s example of admitting that the methods he used to gain power were not perfect.
He added that the president needs to follow Jonathan’s example, who maintained Nigeria’s democracy by accepting loss.

The 2023 presidential election was tainted by anomalies, according to Peter Obi and his followers, and the results shouldn’t have been accepted.

Additionally, Obi claimed that Bola Tinubu’s government does not practice democracy.

Bwala said the former governor should not remark on anything pertaining to Nigeria’s democratic fight in a post via 𝕏 on Friday night.

Bwala commented, “I would like it if someone could verify if it is accurate that on June 12, 1993, and for a few weeks thereafter, @PeterObi Peter Gregory Obi was in Malaysia or another Asian country engaged in buying and selling trading.

“I looked online to see if he was involved in the fight for democracy, but I couldn’t find a connection, ohh.”
