Liverpool’s Premier League Victory Parade Crash Injures 79, Man Charged

In relation to the horrific collision that disrupted Liverpool’s Premier League triumph parade on Monday and left 79 people, including a child, injured, a 53-year-old former Royal Marine has been officially charged.
A car allegedly driven by Paul Doyle, a father of three and local businessman from Burghill Road in West Derby, crashed into a group of joyful Liverpool supporters congregated on Water Street at around 6:00 p.m. BST, leading to Doyle’s arrest.
A nine-year-old child was among those hurt when emergency personnel arrived at what swiftly became a tense and frightening situation.

Those hurt range in age from 9 to 78, and others are still undergoing treatment for severe wounds.
On Wednesday, May 28, Water Street reopened after being blocked off for cleanup and inquiry.

On Thursday, May 29, Merseyside Police confirmed that Mr. Doyle has been charged with seven serious offenses, including two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), one of which involves a child, and two counts of causing unlawful and malicious GBH with intent.

Other charges include one count of hazardous driving and two counts of attempted unlawful and malicious GBH with intent, which again involves a juvenile victim.

Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said at a press conference that seven victims are still in the hospital as investigators continue to go through “a huge volume” of material, including witness interviews, dashcam recordings, CCTV footage, and mobile phone videos.

“We acknowledge that the public has a lot of questions regarding this incident,” ACC Sims stated. “To find answers, our detectives are working diligently and professionally around the clock. We will provide further information as soon as we can.

The charges are being reviewed as the inquiry progresses, Mersey-Cheshire Crown Prosecution Service Chief Crown Prosecutor Sarah Hammond stated. “Ensuring that every victim receives the justice they are entitled to is crucial,” she stated.
