Police Nab Two Suspects Linked to Kidnap of Ex-AIG Odumosu’s Wife

Two further suspects were detained by Lagos State Police Command operations on Friday on suspicion of being involved in the abduction of Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, the wife of former Assistant Inspector-General of Police AIG Hakeem Odumosu.
Keleke Michael, 30, and Agbojule Smart, 27, are the suspects.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, stated in a statement released at the Force Headquarters in Abuja that they were taken into custody by members of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad.
A statement on the Nigeria Police Force’s X account claims that the suspects were found in possession of two locally made guns, eleven live cartridges, and N2.25 million.
Agbojule Smart’m’, 27, and Keleke Michael’m’, 30, are the two suspects that the Lagos State CP Special Squad has detained in response to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, ordering them to pursue the fugitives in connection with the abduction of Mrs. Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant-Inspector General, AIG Hakeem Odumosu.
As the suspects were leaving Lagos State this morning, Friday, January 24, 2025, they were apprehended. After being questioned, they admitted to their crime and said they were part of a four-person gang, two of whom had already been eliminated.
“Two million, two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N2,250,000), which was part of the requested ransom, two locally made rifles, and eleven live cartridges were recovered from the suspects upon their arrest,” the statement said in part.
Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General, praised the agents “for their gallantry in apprehending these suspects and encourages them to maintain this high standard of competence in the fight against crime in all its manifestations,” the statement continued.
Adejobi also emphasized the police’s dedication to enhancing public safety, saying that the force is unwavering in its goal of “reducing crime to an absolute minimum and fostering the establishment of peace across the nation.”

The wife of the retired AIG, Folashade Odumosu, was kidnapped last Thursday at the entrance to her home in Arepo, Ogun State’s Owode Local Government Area.
After taking the former AIG’s wife out of her Lexus SUV, the kidnappers drove her across a marsh to an unidentified location.
According to reports, Nigeria Police Force personnel saved Mrs. Odumosu. On Wednesday, her independence was restored.
The retired AIG’s wife was rescued thanks to an operation led by Lanre Ogunlowo, the commissioner of police for Ogun State. During the operation, some of the kidnappers were reportedly neutralized.
