NAF Airstrike Destroys IED Factory, Terrorist Gun Trucks in Tumbuktu Triangle

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a severe blow to rebels in Borno State as part of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK). An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) factory, multiple terrorist gun trucks, and dozens of insurgents were neutralized in Kwaltiri, which is part of the infamous Tumbuktu Triangle, a major hub for terrorist activity, by a precision airstrike carried out by NAF air assets in a significant tactical victory.
The operation was carried out successfully on June 18, 2025, after actionable intelligence indicated a spike in terrorist activities in the region. An functioning IED production factory and multiple armed vehicles were confirmed by surveillance missions, which prompted the coordinated air offensive.
During the operation, NAF planes hit several targets with precise strikes that seriously damaged the militants’ infrastructure. According to an official statement, the airstrike severely affected the insurgents’ supply networks and command and control systems. The group’s ability to make bombs was severely damaged by the destruction of the IED plant, which further reduced its power to attack.

In its statement, the NAF stated that the successful strikes “shocked their ranks, severely degrading their morale and operational momentum, in addition to disrupting their command and control and logistics chains.”
The successful completion of this mission has been hailed by security experts as a critical step in reducing terrorism in the northeastern part of Nigeria. Neutering the Tumbuktu Triangle is a major goal in the current counter-insurgency campaign because it has long been a haven for terrorist organizations.
This most recent offensive demonstrates the Nigerian Air Force’s dedication to bolstering regional stability and aiding national security operations. The mission is a part of ongoing operations under Operation Hadin Kai to weaken terrorist capabilities and bring peace back to insurgent-affected communities.
