New SSDC MD Set to Resume After Receiving Appointment Letter

Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), gave Ms. Usoro Akpabio, the Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), and the other members of the recently appointed board their official appointment letters at his Abuja office on Tuesday.

At the official ceremony, SGF Akume thanked the new hires and urged them to fulfill the renewed hope agenda for the South-South area set forth by the Federal Government. He underlined that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s faith in their capacity to fast-track change in the oil-rich area was evident in their appointments. Akume demanded that their mandate be carried out with attention, creativity, and integrity.

Ms. Akpabio replied that the Commission would give top priority to enhancing primary healthcare systems, modernizing educational facilities, and empowering women and the elderly through focused training programs. She reiterated that the new board is committed to making the South-South Commission a model for regional development organizations nationwide.

Letters of appointment were given to each member, marking the official start of the board’s responsibilities. Now, with renewed vigor and support from the Federal Government, the SSDC is poised to usher in a new age of inclusive growth, sustainable development, and regional prosperity for the South-South’s citizens.
