“Nigeria Is Back on the Global Stage” – Olawepo-Hashim Hails Super Falcons’ Win

The Super Falcons’ victory in winning the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy is a symbol of national resurgence, according to Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a former presidential candidate and PDP chieftain, who also emphasized that Nigeria is making a comeback on the international scene.
In what has already been dubbed one of the greatest moments in African sports history, Nigeria’s Super Falcons wowed the continent on Saturday with an incredible comeback to win the African Women’s Football Trophy, according to a press statement released by Olawepo-Hashim on Sunday.
“After a rocky start to the tournament, the Falcons were viewed as underdogs, but they showed unparalleled tenacity and spirit to overcome the odds and win the trophy, sparking a wave of celebration and renewed pride in Nigeria.”

One of the many well-known Nigerians who responded to the historic win was Olawepo-Hashim, who called the squad “heroines” and hailed the victory as a potent symbol of Nigeria’s recovery on the international scene.
According to Olawepo-Hashim’s declaration, “From Zero to Heroines.” “The world was reminded of who we are yesterday by the Super Falcons—a people who are characterized by tenacity and unwavering resolve rather than by setbacks.”
He underlined that despite Nigeria’s political, economic, and social difficulties, the Super Falcons’ victory represents a larger national resurgence and goes beyond sports.
“This triumph goes beyond a mere game.” Nigeria is returning, stronger, more unified, and unstoppable. That is the message.
“There has never been a more significant moment for the historic victory. With inflation, instability, and institutional mistrust still plaguing Nigerians, the Super Falcons have provided a unique moment of solidarity—a tale of optimism, faith, and overcoming adversity.
“The country erupted in joy from Lagos to Abuja, Kano to Port Harcourt, with fans dancing, singing, and waving flags far into the night.
“With this triumph, the Super Falcons not only solidified their reputation as Africa’s most successful women’s football team, but they also left their mark on the hearts of millions of people as representations of what Nigeria is capable of—brave, intelligent, and triumphant.”
