Nigerian Military Detains Female Soldier Over Alleged Stealing

Corporal Amina Maidoki, a female soldier, has been arrested and detained by the Nigerian Army on charges of theft and misconduct.
Maidoki is presently being investigated for “allegations of conduct that contradicts the fundamental values of the Nigerian Army, including but not limited to the accusation of theft,” according to a statement released by Lt-Col Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations.
The Nigerian Army denied any allegations of illegal imprisonment or denial of legal representation, although it did urge the public to refrain from speculative opinion and assured them that more information on the inquiry will be given when they are suitable.

The Armed Forces Act (Cap A20 LFN 2004), internal rules, and the highest standards of military ethics serve as the NA’s guiding principles as a professional military organization. As a result, the legal processes outlined for military people are followed in her temporary custody. It is crucial to remember that the Nigerian Army does not employ arbitrary disciplinary actions. All employees are entitled to procedural fairness, and they are controlled by due process.

“Corporal Maidoki continues to receive appropriate welfare in accordance with military standards, and the ongoing investigation into this matter is being conducted with the utmost regard for her legal and human rights,” Anele said in the statement.

“All of these statements are untrue and made merely to mislead the public and arouse unnecessary emotions. Therefore, we urge the public to ignore such fraudulent submissions,” the Army stated.

The Army has acknowledged the worries raised by Maidoki’s family and assured them that it is prepared to have legal conversations and interactions with them, provided that these interactions adhere to the existing operational and investigative procedures.

No matter who is involved, the Nigerian Army makes sure that everyone’s rights are upheld.

But no one is above the law or immune from military punishment. To maintain the integrity, unity, and efficacy of the Nigerian Army, allegations of misbehavior must be completely and legally addressed,” the statement said.
