Why I Oppose Any Coalition With APC — Rhodes-Vivour

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a former candidate for governor of Lagos State from the Labour Party, has stated that he is in favor of the demand for a coalition to overthrow the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to reports, Rhodes-Vivour stated that the ruling party in Lagos and at the federal level should not be a member of such a coalition.
The leader of the Labour Party blamed the APC for Lagos’s bad governance in an interview with News Central on Monday.
“I wholeheartedly support a coalition. Well, the APC cannot be a part of such coalition. I have therefore remained steadfast in my position because I believe that the APC’s style of government in Lagos State is to blame for everything that is wrong with the state, including my own suffering and that of many Lagosians. Therefore, I can’t live with it,” he added.
Rhodes-Viviour did not believe that the APC and the PDP were two sides of the same coin. He claims that Lagos State was never ruled by the PDP. He went on to say that he desired a coalition that would free the people of Lagos from their godfathers.

“Not in Lagos.” That is not what I agree with. I joined the PDP in Lagos for that reason. The PDP has never held a role in the government. Their closest relationship was with Funso Williams, and we are aware of his fate.
In order for the people to genuinely benefit from governance without any godfathers pulling strings and demanding that these funds accrue to them or that these funds accrue to them in order for the Lagos purse to truly work for Lagosians, I believe it is important to build a coalition base that can actually challenge and overthrow this government. And it’s not worth my time to join any alliance that restricts that potential,” he said.
