NiMet Seeks Legislative Backing to Improve Cost Recovery and Service Delivery

A public hearing was held at the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) regarding a bill that was introduced by Hon. Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade, the former chair of the House Committee on Aviation Technology, and that would change the Agency’s Establishment Act as of 2022.
The proposed revisions aim to establish a precise and comprehensive framework for the Agency’s cost recovery across the economy, particularly in the non-aviation sectors, among other important concerns.
Enhancing personnel welfare, ensuring safety, boosting efficiency, and strengthening the Agency’s ability to carry out its mandate are the goals.
Director-General/CEO Professor Charles Anosike gave a presentation at the public hearing, which was organized by the House Committee on Aviation Technology. He stressed that cost recovery is a widely recognized technique and a vital component of the Agency’s long-term viability.
