Nnamdi Kanu Not in Solitary Confinement – DSS Denies Allegation

According to reports, the Department of State Services (DSS) held Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu in solitary confinement. The DSS has denied these allegations.
Kanu is not in solitary detention, according to the DSS, despite being charged with seven counts of terrorism and treasonable felony by the Federal Government.
During the case’s reopened hearing on Wednesday, a DSS agent whose identity was kept secret for security reasons continued to testify before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Responding to inquiries and undergoing cross-examination by Kanu’s legal team, which was headed by Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the operative, identified as PW-BBB, maintained that “solitary confinement is not a practice of the DSS.”

Agabi had complained about Kanu’s extended incarceration and claimed that he was being held in solitary confinement.

The witness denied the allegation in his response, telling the court that he was only an investigator and that he was not Kanu’s “handler.”

Despite the statement, Agabi persisted in questioning the legitimacy of Kanu’s ongoing imprisonment, claiming it amounted to “cruel and inhuman treatment.”

The witness responded by telling the court that it was outside the scope of his investigative responsibilities for him to speak to Kanu’s psychological condition.
