‘Everything Is Falling Apart, Nigerians Struggling To Cope’ – Kate Henshaw Laments

Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has questioned whether the nation’s unbroken democratic rule is still relevant if it doesn’t meet the requirements of its people.
According to reports, the movie actress claimed that the nation’s democratic experience has not had a significant impact on the lives of common people in an interview on Channels Television’s special Democracy Day show on Thursday.

Kate Henshaw bemoaned the decline of the middle class, the deterioration of public facilities, and the increase in poverty, emphasizing that Nigerians are fighting to make ends meet in the face of deteriorating socioeconomic circumstances.

Henshaw encouraged Nigerians to keep pressing for accountability from those in power in spite of the harsh reality.

“The people are not feeling our democracy,” she remarked. Indeed, our democracy has been unbroken, but how does that affect others? What is the effect of trickle-down? What effects does it have on the lives of regular Nigerians?

“The middle class does not exist, and we must stop deceiving ourselves. There is no security, healthcare is in ruins, and people live in poverty.

The Nigerian people are barely surviving, and everything around them is collapsing.

“It takes time to win the battles for the things that matter.” We can’t be silent. We must always ensure that we hold the government responsible.

“The people’s lives and property must be protected by justice, equity, and security.”

The actress added that she was hesitant to participate in the customary greetings for Democracy Day as she had nothing to say and nothing had come to pass.

“I would have tweeted something like ‘Happy Democracy Day,’ but I had nothing to say,” she continued. It’s just this sensation that something is fading and hasn’t truly materialized.

“However, I continue to hope that our children will have a country to live in and that they can build upon.”
