NSCDC Reaffirms Commitment to Safeguarding Schools in Nigeria

Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the NSCDC’s commandant general, has reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to safeguarding the nation’s schoolchildren.
CSC In a statement, Babawale Afolabi, Public Relations Officer, NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja, said that the Corps was tasked with protecting key national assets and infrastructure (CNAI), citing children as Nigeria’s greatest asset.
The National Safe School Response Coordination Centre (NSSRCC) organized a one-day capacity building program for State Coordinators and Desk Officers selected from the North Central geopolitical zone, which was held at the Corps’ national headquarters. Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, gave the directive in a keynote address, according to the statement.
In order to help cascade the capacity building training programs for the benefit of more stakeholders in their domains, Audi instructed state commandants to support the Safe Schools Project.
Through training and retraining, the cornerstone of any organization, he reiterated his administration’s dedication to the cause of safer schools for kids, teachers, and host communities.
The Corps’ helmsman, DCG Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, the Deputy Commandant General of Technical Services, represented the Corps. He stated that the training, which has as its theme “Ensuring safer schools for all,” is intended to increase the ability of NSSRCC staff at all levels in order to meet the government’s Safe Schools Declaration goal.
He insisted that since the Corps’ 2021 vulnerability evaluation of schools, the organization has been dedicated to making learning spaces safer for kids, educators, and host communities.
The NSCDC director praised the efforts of other stakeholders, including the ministries of interior, finance, and education, as well as civil society organizations like Save the Children International, for their steadfast dedication to fulfilling the center’s mission. He also encouraged participants to network and learn from experts for improved service delivery.

In a previous welcome speech, Commander NSSRCC ACC Rabiu Ibn Muhammad stated that the center sees opportunities for cooperation, innovation, and growth in the face of emerging insecurity trends, such as drug abuse, cultism, and cyber threats, among others. As a result, it is necessary to train its staff on the newest advancements and technologies in the security sector.
According to Muhammad, specialists in a range of fields have been handpicked to provide participants fresh perspectives on how to address the numerous issues pertaining to school safety throughout the federation.
He emphasized that prior to the first half of the year, more training stages will be conducted in the other geopolitical zones.
