Olaiya Igwe Still Battling Curses — Alapini Regrets Backing Tinubu, Criticizes Seyi

Ganiu Nafiu, better known by his stage as Alapini, is a veteran Nollywood actor who has apologized for backing President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
In an interview on YouTube titled “Behind the Fame – African A-List TV,” Alapini reportedly bemoaned the disregard and lack of acknowledgment that followed Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election.
Alapini emphasized that he and many other veterans spent two months campaigning for Tinubu in the hopes that their visibility and loyalty would be valued following the election, but that anticipation has subsequently turned into disillusionment.
Since Tinubu has been supportive of performers and someone we have admired for many years, he stated, “We were campaigning with joy, thinking our messiah has arrived.” We came out to support him for two months because of this. We fought for him for two months.
Alapini went on to say that the All Progressives Congress and Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, did not recognize the work of the elderly actors who were visibly present at campaign events.
The actor emphasized that he has not been exempt from the curses placed against him by quoting his colleague Olaiya Igwe, who famously stripped nude on a beach to pray for Tinubu’s triumph.

Alapini accused Seyi of ignoring Yoruba people by concentrating his charitable endeavors in Northern Nigeria.
“Would Seyi say that he didn’t see us old people when we were out there campaigning?” he continued.
“Did Seyi not see us, the older performers, because he was blind? We had more than 100 people. All of us, young and elderly, were strolling around.
We also ran campaigns in places where some people were unable to do so.
“They provided us with nothing. During our campaign, we were being cursed in comment areas.
Due to Tinubu, my friend Olaiya Igwe nudely stripped on the beach.
He has not yet been released from the curses that were set upon him.
