Orji Kalu: I Can’t Believe the Political Impact Tinubu Had in Abia

According to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North in the National Assembly, President Bola Tinubu was not pleased with his 4% vote in the 2023 presidential election in Abia State.
According to reports, the former governor of Abia State wrote on his official Facebook page that Tinubu’s 4% overall score was concerning given the variety of candidates the All Progressives Congress (APC) fielded in Abia State during the election.
He urged APC members to band together and concentrate on winning the APC in 2027, emphasizing that the South East should not pass up the advantages of being a part of the mainstream political landscape.
Noting that Governor Otti did not take part in the talks, the Abia North Senator said the purpose of the stakeholders’ meeting he called at his home in Abuja was to encourage unity among APC members and rally the party’s support from Abia members.
Additionally, Kalu made it clear that he did not criticize Governor Alex Otti or his performance, stating that he never discusses his successors in public.

“For instance, when I joined the APC in 2019, President Buhari won 68% of the vote in our constituency. However, when President Tinubu returned in 2023, he only won 4% of the vote in Abia overall, indicating that he was dissatisfied with Abia’s political numbers,” he stated.
“We can only make 4% because he has buddies like me and other people who are his friends. Even I find it hard to believe.
“The entire South East must be seated where other Nigerians are.”
