Oyintiloye Foresees Political and Economic Stability Under Tinubu’s 2027 Second Term

In order to ensure the political and economic stability of the country, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged traditional and political leaders to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ambition for a second term in office.
In an interview with reporters in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye stated that the leaders should prioritize maintaining the country’s political and economic stability.
He said that Tinubu’s reelection would stabilize Nigeria and that the president would continue to make sure that the federal government’s development push was equitable for all regions during his second term.
He clarified the necessity for political and traditional leaders, particularly those in Southern Nigeria, to defend President Bola Tinubu against a small group of Northern elites who are determined to prevent his reelection in 2027.
He claimed Tinubu should have the region’s support for his second term because he has been a friend of the North and has consistently backed its political agenda.
However, he voiced worry that anytime a Southerner is president, a handful of Northern splinters frequently organize into a clique and utilize all available tactics, including blackmail, to overthrow his administration.
Oyintiloye claimed that the humiliation that Southern presidents frequently endured at the hands of a small group of Northerners in their attempt to seize power would live on in the nation’s political history.
“This has been happening repeatedly, and the political history of the country will never forget the intimidation that Southern presidents have endured at the hands of a select group of Northern men who consistently put up a strong fight against their reelection campaign.

However, President Bola Tinubu has done enough to win over the main Northern power bloc.
The time has therefore come for the area to further place the small group of people responsible for the nefarious conspiracy against the President where they truly belong.
“The acknowledged political leaders and royal fathers of the region cannot continue to watch the trend and allow blackmail against Tinubu to gain traction because these individuals are self-appointed leaders of the North,” Oyintiloye stated.
In addition, the former congressman urged Southern Nigerian political leaders and traditional leaders to avoid becoming targets of some Northern politicians who have been rejected and are scheming to overthrow Tinubu.
“And that’s all the more reason for the Southern leaders to stand up and support the President,” he continued.
This backing is required to stop the downward political trajectory that second-term bids frequently take whenever a Southerner serves as president.
“They ought to protect the President from unjustified assaults by a few Northern politicians.”
In addition, he urged the Council of Southern Traditional Rulers’ Chairman, His Royal Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, as well as the co-chairmen, Obi of Obinugwu, Cletus Illomuanya, and King Jaja of Opobo, Dandeson Jaja, along with the council’s secretary, Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi 1, Dein of Agbor, to support the president in the area and collaborate with their Northern counterparts to secure Tinubu’s victory in 2027.
Additionally, I wish to counsel former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Professor Wole Soyinka, former Nigeria Senate President Ken Nnamani, and other Southern elders to step forward and prevent a recurrence of the past’s disastrous events.
He added, “They ought to protect Southern Nigeria from the few Northern power-hungry individuals.”
