Pat Utomi Backs ADC, Urges Coalition to Rescue Nigeria from ‘Present Darkness’

Former presidential contender Professor Pat Utomi has stated his support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the platform to lift Nigeria out of its “current darkness.”

Utomi wrote on X that the ADC should not only replace incumbents but also concentrate on national redemption, sacrificial service, and giving future generations hope.

In his own words: “Replacing incumbents alone must not be the key. Redeeming Nigeria and giving our children hope must involve selfless service.

The ADC’s first presidential candidate in 2007, Utomi, stated that the new coalition leaders should concentrate on finding and training young, capable Nigerians for leadership roles.

“It would be wise for the guardian class that recently assumed power to concentrate on enlisting young, capable, brave individuals with a strong sense of duty and nation-building to be cultivated for quick development,” he stated.

He went on to say that all of the politicians from the previous 15 years, regardless of their individual reputations, must take collective responsibility for the nation’s downfall and view the current political realignment as a time for introspection and atonement.

“All Nigerian politicians, whether they were the good ones or not, must acknowledge that they are all responsible for Nigeria’s decline into backwardness and must view any current salvage mission as an act of atonement and self-reflection,” he stated.

Urging a change toward the common good, Utomi cautioned against the perils of “short-sighted narcissism” in power politics.

“They must put the good of the group ahead of themselves. Nigeria must now give way to the spirit of community that aims to create a larger pie for everyone, he added, replacing the shortsighted narcissism that has led those in positions of authority to unintentionally halt progress.
