PDP Chieftain: Atiku Will Get ADC Presidential Ticket, But Not the Presidency

Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a prominent figure in Lagos State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has forecast that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will be the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) presidential candidate in 2027.
Speaking to reporters regarding Atiku and other recent PDP defections, Pearse stated that the action poses no threat to the PDP.
He said that his own political reputation had been harmed by the former PDP presidential contender.

But Pearse conceded that “Atiku cannot win the presidential election on that platform, but he will definitely win the ADC primary and secure the presidential ticket.”

“The former vice president’s judgment is consistently flawed. The PDP leader recently told reporters in Lagos that what he is doing now is damaging his political credentials.

Many people who defected to the ADC would quickly realize their error and rejoin the PDP, he said.

NEC Gathering
Pearse said that the recently concluded National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja has dispelled all skepticism over the party’s cohesion and strength.

According to Pearse, who convened the Reset Lagos PDP group and was formerly a member of the Atiku Abubakar 2023 Presidential Campaign Committee, the successful NEC meeting marks a significant turning point for the PDP.

“There are no issues with PDP. Many other political parties have issues, but the PDP does not. He confirmed, “The PDP has a very solid foundation.

“There can be some issues that must be resolved just like in a marriage,” Pearse said, comparing the party’s internal conflicts to marital misunderstandings. What would you expect from the next marriage you wish to enter if you leave this one abruptly? The situation could get much worse, possibly even disastrous.

“Our NEC meeting was held, and all the evidence suggests that PDP is doing well. Unlike the other political party, we Democrats elect our leaders rather than appointing them. PDP is proceeding, and everything is in its proper place. We look fine. PDP is already back. PDP members who are quitting are perplexed because they just made a mistake.

The Masterful Zoning of the Presidency to the South
According to Pearse, the party’s decision to shift its 2027 presidential ticket to the South was “a game changer.”

Pearse pointed out that this is the only way to unseat All Progressives Congress (APC) President Bola Tinubu.

The PDP had its 101st NEC meeting in Abuja on Thursday, according to reports, and decided to host its national elective convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16.

According to reports, the gathering, which was attended by party stakeholders, covered important internal reforms and established a strategy framework for the general elections in 2027.

In the midst of defections, internal power struggles, and the pursuit of a victorious alliance in the upcoming election cycle, Pearse’s remarks reflect the PDP’s efforts to reestablish itself as a viable rival to the ruling APC.
