PDP Launches Southern Presidential Candidate Search for 2027 — Bode George

Bode George, the former chairman of the board of trustees and president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that strategic efforts are being made to obtain a southern presidential candidate in the face of mounting concern over the party’s zoning system ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to George’s interview, the party is secretly forming an alliance around respectable southern leaders who might represent the PDP in 2027 against President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
George reportedly said, “The process of electing a Southerner to be the party’s presidential flagbearer is underway.”
Politics does not have a shutdown. This week, we have an important meeting that could make or destroy our future.
Some members of the National Executive Committee are still against the party moving the presidential ticket to the South, despite George and other Southern PDP leaders’ support. They contend that the party should put electability and internal cohesion ahead of regional concerns.
George emphasized the value of prudence and calculated timing in exposing possible candidates, while acknowledging the zoning disputes.
