PDP Leaders Hold Closed-Door Meeting with INEC Officials in Abuja

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja hosted a closed-door meeting between the PDP’s leadership and top staff on Tuesday.
As part of the PDP’s strategic engagements leading up to its upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, the meeting came after a brief news conference. Internal conversations about party leadership and election strategy are also taking place at the same time as the talks.
Although specifics of the meeting were not disclosed, people with knowledge of the situation said that the party’s adherence to INEC rules, getting ready for the next off-cycle elections, and internal party procedures and organization were among the main topics on the agenda.

PDP Acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Damagum, INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, a number of PDP governors, and senior INEC officials were present.
Aiming to improve cooperation between political parties and the electoral authority, the gathering is seen as a component of larger consultations. Prior to the general elections in 2027, it also emphasizes initiatives to guarantee early planning, regulatory compliance, and transparency.
